New Cell Phones Coming Out

Believe it or not cell phones have been out for a really long time.  In the 1960's radiophones were used in the military for ships to be able to keep in contact with others on the shore.  But even before that there was a company that had technology where a  group of phones could share a signal from one tower, the only problem was whatever frequency that phone used had it the whole time it was use.  And if it was full no one could use another line until someone hung up their phone.

A man from Euclid, Ohio got a US Patent for the first cell phone similar to the ones that are used today in 1969.  Someone named Martin Cooper from Motorola started working on ideas to make phones that were more convenient, after a few US Patents, and a lot of work he was able to make a modern day cell phone, and on April 3, 1973 he used it to call a rival.

The first cell phone for general public was sold in 1979 in Japan.  Soon after that other countries followed including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in 1981.  The first mobile phone that was approved by the FCC hit the United States in 1983, it was called the Motorola DynaTAC.  This phone like the ones used today, used towers that gave off small signals that the phone would pick up on.  From that point on all the companies had to do was to improve on their technology and make the signals stronger, and the cell phones smaller.

SMS texting came around in 1993 in Finland, after many trials, and other testing it started becoming more widely used.  In 1999 it was almost everywhere, that is the also the first time that the Internet was introduced to cell phones.  These phones that were now being made were considers 2G phones or 2nd Generation phones.  The ones previous to this were considered 1G phones.  After the Internet was established on cellular phones the first thing sold to mobile phones were ring tones in 1999.  At this point cellular phones were getting smaller and more portable, before now they were quite large and needed a big battery to stay on, many of them were just made for cars.

Soon after that in 2001 a Japanese company launched what they considered as the first line of 3G phones.  These phones were more stylish and were a lot smaller then the previous phones that had came out.  These easily fit in jacket pockets and other small places.  That technology is still being used today, there are some phones out there that are so small that you almost can't even tell they are phones.  We are going to go over some of the cell phones that are supposed to be coming out within the next couple months.

The newer cell phones that are coming out are getting cheaper and cheaper and have more and more awesome features.  We are nearing the point where we will have all of our needs taken care of on a single gadget.  For example, there are the new iPods, which are absolutely awesome.  Touch screen features are making it easier to have a larger surface area for the screen, which allows better and larger information to be displayed on these gadgets.  This has also allowed for touch screen QWERTY keyboards, which is better than doing it through text-type, which is when you are texting and have to use the three letters per number.  I was never able to do this with the auto-spell anyway, because I tend to make up a lot of words.

This has also opened the door for those wonderful little software inventions called apps.  The best one, in my opinion, is an app called Shazam, which is a program that allows you to hold your phone up to any speaker playing music.  It recognizes the music, and tells you the name of a song.  No more wondering what a song in the club is!

Anyway, the iPhone touch is probably the best of the new phones that is out today in terms of general usefulness and awesomeness.  I am undoubtedly biased when it comes to this, and it is certainly open for debate.  For example, there are the lovers of the BlackBerry, which is also very useful, but has an actual keyboard, unlike the touch-screen iPhone.  Then there is the Droid, which is also pretty awesome phone as well.  In general, any of those phones are pretty awesome and are totally worth getting.  That said, you can find other, cheaper phones, with much discounted deals, that should be able to provide you with all of your basic phone needs.  For example there is the basic Nokia with the ability to just call and text and play that snake game - yes they are still around - and there are a number of other brands that offer just basic service as well.  If price is the thing you are keeping an eye on, then you can certainly get some very cheap phones out there.
